Australians have always enjoyed a close link to the sea – for sport, play, exploration, defence, industry and adventure. The Australian National Maritime Museum (ANMM) captures many of these stories with lively exhibitions, rare and fascinating artifacts, fun activities and the chance to climb aboard and experience life at sea.
Explore the lives of those who helped shape Australia’s history, like Captain Cook, the first Australians and post-war migrants who sailed across vast seas to settle on these shores.
Inspect the fleet of historic vessels moored at our wharves. Go on board Australian naval destroyer HMAS Vampire or discover the world of submariners on submarine HMAS Onslow, and don’t miss the magnificent full-scale replica of Captain Cook’s HMB Endeavour (when in port). HMB Endeavour regulary embarks on exciting voyages, which you can join as a paying crew-member, please visit our Endeavour website for more information.
Inside the museum, browse our galleries, filled with treasures such as 120 years of Australian beach fashion and the world’s fastest boat. Discover the weird and wonderful, like a Viking ship made out of beer cans! Save some time to visit our popular changing exhibitions and special events.
Families enjoy live entertainment and fun kids’ activities during school holidays and weekends. We also offer educational programs for school groups and AMNN members.
The ANMM is open every day, except Christmas Day.
See you at the ANMM, or visit our website at www.anmm.gov.au.

I read your article on the wreck off Q/land coast & noted a Lloyd Fletcher [Dr] mentioned. I was a mate of a Lloyd Douglas Fletcher in WA.He did seasons in Antarctic as MO among,no doubt, other interesting ventures.
I have been trying to chase him down for some time, to renew auld acquaintences.
If your Lloyd F is the one I’m looking for, I’d love you to forward my contact info to him,or his to me. That’s if he has such a desire.
Regards Ellis Trautman.
